Qatar 2022: Support players in camp to deliver for Ghana – Gyan to Ghanaians

Asamoah Gyan, the all-time leading scorer for Ghana, has begged Ghanaians not to criticize Otto Addo for his choice of 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup.

The 36-year-old feels that following the Black Stars’ opening match against Portugal in Qatar, Ghanaians should begin discussing whether it is justified to leave some players out of the squad.

Otto Addo has received a lot of criticism for leaving out big performers like Joseph Paintsil, Jeffrey Schlupp, and Felix Afena-Gyan from his final roster.

The former captain of Ghana urged his countrymen to support the Black Stars so they might make an impact in the competition in a tweet.

“Everyone has shared his or her opinion about the Black Stars, 26-man squad is out now. So, what we have to do now is to support those in camp now,” Gyan said.

“If u have any comments, wait till after the first game of the tournament. But for now, let’s pray for the team to deliver.”

The Black Stars opened camp on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi and will play Switzerland in a warm-up friendly on Thursday, November 17 before heading to Qatar for the Mundial.

Ghana will face Portugal on November 24 before coming up against South Korea four days later and Uruguay on December 2 to close the group phase.
