Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has accused accused Akufo-Addo’s cousin Gabby Otchere Darko of planting a candidate against him in 2016 but failed after he won with a wide margin.

The Majority Caucus Leader has came under strong suspicion of instigating his Caucus members to call for Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s sacking.

Reacting to the allegations, Kyei Mensah Bonsu said there is no truth in the claims as he tried to stop the rebel MPs from holding the presser.

Kyei Mensah Bonsu who is unhappy about Gabby accusing him of instigating the presser asked the private legal practitioner if he has contested any elections before and who did he think he is.

“…That Gabby Otchere-Darko, who does he think he is? I serve Akufo-Addo and I served the party and the government. When we talk about the government itself what is your locus to be accusing me of being an instigator?” Kyei Mensah Bonsu asked Gabby.

Kyei Mensah Bonsu alleged that in 2016 Gabby Otchere Darko and others planted a candidate against him believing him to be unpopular on the ground.
“You, Gabby, are the same person who wrote something for someone to publish against me on his radio station that I will lose my re-election contest, hence my saying that I will not contest again. Gabby, have you contested an election before? They are the same people who sponsored people to contest against me in 2016, it didn’t work for him”.

Then candidate Akufo-Addo offered to come to the ground to support Kyei Mensah Bonsu get elected but he assured Akufo-Addo he was in control of the situation. At the end of the day, three of the candidates, including Gabby’s sponsored candidate were defeated by Kyei Mensah Bonsu, according to him, Kyei Mensah.
