Real Tamale United (RTU) came from behind to beat Asante Kotoko 2-1 at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale on Saturday in a 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL) matchday 8 clash.

The Pride of the North, led by coach Baba Nuhu, has now won three straight games now.

In the 42nd minute, Georges Mfegue gave Kotoko the lead after Hafiz Adams’ sloppy defensive header of a Patrick Asmah throw-in caused the ball to drop just in front of the striker.

He fired in a low volley for the opener.

Midfielder David Abagna nutmegged Nicholas Mensah Mensah in the centre circle, drove forward and passed to Stephen Dankwah Badu who set up Issah Kuka to tap in from the far post.

Then, almost immediately after the restart, Kotoko centre-back Yusif Mubarik turned the ball over to RTU captain Abagna, who promptly scored to make it 2-1 for his team.

The 65th-minute goal was the game-winning score for RTU, who now have 11 points and are 3 points closer to Kotoko.

Eight games into their title defence, the Porcupine Warriors have now suffered two losses.
