Morocco shocks spain to reach World Cup quarter finals for the first time



Morocco defeat Spain in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup knockout match at the Education City Stadium.

Morocco advance to the quarter-finals becoming the first Arab team in the Qatar World Cup to qualify for the quarter-finals. Spain exits the World Cup following their loss at the hands of Morocco.

The first 90 minutes of the match ended in a 0 – 0 draw between Morocco and Spain. Extra time was added at the end of the match with both teams failing to score once again leading to a penalty shootout.

Morocco defeated Spain 3 – 0 in the resulting penalty shootout. Morocco’s goalkeeper Yassine Bounou saved two penalties in the shootout and his teammates Abdelhamid Sabiri, Hakim Ziyech and Achraf Hakimi successfully scored.
