Mateu Lahoz, the referee who officiated Argentina vs Netherlands game will not be officiating the rest of the matches as he been sent home from Qatar World Cup, according to COPE.

Lahoz officiated his last game during the quarter-final clash between Argentina and Netherlands where he dished out about 15 yellow cards.

The referee’s performance did not impress both teams, with Argentina’s players particularly vocal about his officiating.

Lionel Messi, who’s also Argentina’s captain led the criticism of Lahoz following his poor performance in the game.

This is what Messi had to say about the referee;

“I don’t want to speak about referees because after they will sanction you. But people saw what happened,”

“I think Fifa must take care of this, it cannot put a referee like that for a match of such magnitude, of such importance. The referee cannot fail to be up to the task.” he added.

Argentina will play Croatia in the semifinals games.
