Nigerian acts more successful because of their ‘tenacity, aggressiveness and mindset’ – Stonebwoy

Stonebwoy has assigned reasons to the wide international success of Nigerian music acts exceeding that of Ghanaians.

The Ghanaian superstar was guesting on the New York City-based Breakfast Club.

Charlemagne the god, a host on the programme, wondered why Nigerians seem to be dominating on the Afrobeats front.

Stonebwoy answered by first saying it is something he and others have been contemplating and trying to “crack.”

“The numbers factor is part of it,” he said and stressed it is not the first reason on the list for him.

He then pointed to his “Nigerian brother’s… tenacity, aggressiveness and also their mindset.”

However, irrespective of the borders, Stonebwoy opined, “We are one people so it’s all of us in the end.

“We (Ghanaians) play our roles, they (Nigerians) play their roles.”

“Interestingly,” he also said, all the top artistes in Nigeria “find inspiration in Ghana basically. Burna says it often, Wizkid literally lives in Ghana, Davido is like a brother that’s like 247 we’re together so, we all keep playing our individual roles to get us all out there.”

Conceding that Nigerians have more international acclaim than their Ghanaian counterparts, he argued that: “We cannot all be in the front seat. But, I mean, it’s a long queue in the back.”
