2023 School Placement: Over 165,000 Students Fail To Get Placed In Schools They Selected, This Is Why



Information gathered by indicates a total of 165,619 students who sat for the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) failed to get placed in any of the senior high schools they opted prior to the examination.

For this 2022 batch, a total of 547,329 students sat for the annual examination with hopes of getting placed in their preferred senior high schools ranging from their first to sixth choice.

However, out of the total figure, 538,399 students qualified for this year’s Computerized School Selection Placement (CSSPS) and were placed in either senior, technical or vocational schools.

This figure indicates 69.24% of students who wrote the exam got the opportunity to be placed in of the schools they selected prior to the examination while 30.79% of these students failed to qualify for placement in any of the schools they chose hence they are expected to opt for self-placement in order to get a school to attend from the available choices.
