According to Captain Smart, Ghana is at risk of losing some highly essential national assets if debts owing to Asian countries are not settled in due time.

The outspoken Ghanaian journalist stated that state owned institutions like the Tema Harbour, Kotoka International Airport, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and the Electricity Company Of Ghana could be taken over by China.

This he believes are likely assets Ghana could lose in light of the $3.5 billion the country owes the Chinese government, which happens to be an amount equivalent to a third of all foreign debts Ghana owes.

Laying on emphasis on his claim, he indicated that a similar takeover of national assets by the Chinese government was once observed in countries like Sri Lanka, Uganda and Zambia.
