I’ve Received Calls From Top Politicians To Stop Disconnection Exercise – ECG Boss Reveals

Mr. Samuel Dubik Mahama, the Managing Director of the Electricity Company Of Ghana (ECG) has come out to state that he has been receiving calls from top-class politicians, friends and brokers to halt the electricity company’s disconnection exercise aimed at retrieving unpaid debts.

Mr. Samuel Dubik made this disclosure following the massive disconnection exercise perpetuated by the ECG on Monday 20the March, 2023.

The disconnection exercise formed part of the company’s efforts to collect a debt of Ghc5.7 billion in order to avoid shutting down as a result of an outstanding $1 billion owed to some independent power producers.

Explaining further on the essence of the disconnection exercise, Mr. Mahama said halting the operation will result in dire consequences for the ECG’s finances as it risks not being able to pay off its debts.
