Ramadan: Nigerian Muslims Face Arrest For Eating In Public

Information gathered by ghlatest.net indicates the Islamic police resident in Nigeria’s Northern Kano state has sent out a word of caution to the Muslim community in the area against violation of religious norms during the holy month of Ramadan, including the act of ‘eating in public’.

In a recent statement sighted by ghlatest.net, the religious police force otherwise known as Hisbah Board issued a warning that those who engage in societal vices during the holy month will be severely dealt with.

According to the general-commander of the Hisbah Board, Harun Ibn-Sina, some of the youth who eat in public during the holy fasting period will not spared if caught.

Adding to this, the Hisbah Board general-commander said he and his team have deployed officers to the various mosques located within the state to ensure safety during the fasting period which began on Thursday, 23 March, 2023.
