I’m An Informant, Not A Robber – Galamsey Gang Leader Declared Wanted By Police Speaks From Hideout

A man declared wanted by the Ghana Police Service who goes by the name Kwame Ato Asare has spoken from a hideout explaining the circumstances under which he was captured in a standoff with some police officers.

According to the suspect, he is not an armed robber as described by the Ghana Police Service but rather an informant to the Police in the Axim area.

Speaking in a recent interview monitored by ghlatest.net, Ani made it clear that he has over the period of one year been working with the police as an informant and liaison between the police and some illegal miners in the area.

He indicated that, apart from collecting money illegal mining operators on behalf of the Police, he and his undercover gang have also been providing security and fighting criminals in the community with the support of the consent of the police.
