FDA, Police Arrest Six Fake Herbal Product Dealers

Information gathered by ghlatest.net indicates that the Ashanti Regional office of the Food And Drugs Authority (FDA) has arrested six persons in the Kumasi Metropolis for dealing in fake herbal products.

The recent swoop which targeted dealers in unlicensed herbal products, formed part of the regular market surveillance conducted by the authority to combat the practices of perpetrators.

The culprits who were arrested but have now been granted bail, include two community information center operators and four herbal product dealers.

Speaking to the media in a recent address sighted by ghlatest, the Regional Head Of the Food And Drugs Authority (FDA), Mr. John Laryea Odai-Tettey said it is the responsibility of the FDA to ensure the safety and quality of products including medical devices, cosmetics, blood products, food, drugs and tobacco as prescribed by the Public Health Act, of 2012 as mandated to the FDA.
