Man Sued For Marrying 5 Wives

Information gathered by ghlatest.net indicates a businessman named Awaisu Jibril appeared at a Shari’s court sitting at Rigasa, a town in Nigeria, for allegedly marrying five wives, which happens to be a practice in contravention to the teachings of Islam.

News trooping in from the situation indicates, the prosecutor, Inspector Sambo Magairi has informed the court that one Musa Abdullahi, a community leader in Rigasa had reported the case to the Police Division in the area.

During the court proceedings, the Defendant told the court that he only had four wives because he had divorced his fourth wife a month before marrying the fifth.

He, however stated that the fourth wife had not finished her waiting period, a period known in Islam as Iddah which obligates his wife to observe three menstrual cycles before the marriage is legitimized.
