Disappointing Week For Nigerian Players As Their Clubs Crash Out Of European Tournaments

Published

Clearly, it was a disappointing week for Nigerian players following the elimination of a wide range of their clubs from the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Astonishingly, no Nigerian player will be involved in any of aforementioned European tournaments which is quite hard for players from the West African football federation.

In the UEFA Champions League, Victor Osimhen’s Napoli bowed out of the ongoing tournament on Tuesday night after 1-1 home draw against AC Milan.

It was an unforgettable experience for Victor Boniface and his Union Saint Gilloise teammates as they were thrashed out of the Europa League after being defeated 4-1 by Bayer Leverkusen on home soil.

Similarly, there was no luck for Terem Moffi as his French League 1 club, OGC Nice failed to make it to the semi finals of the Europa Conference League.

Just like his other Nigerian colleagues, Gift Orban suffered similar fate after West Ham outclassed KAA Gent by 4 goals to 1 at the London Stadium.
