Celebrated Indian actor, Amitabh Bachchan among the first high-profile account holders on Twitter to pay for the Blue subscription to retain the coveted blue badge on his profile on Thursday, April 20, 2023.

However, the microblogging platform owned by Elon Musk took a u-turn on payments by some celebrities over the weekend and in line with this sudden development, the actor believes his money has gone to waste he has over 48 million which merits him the opportunity to get his blue checkmark restored without having to pay, per the new directive issued by Elon Musk.

After getting his blue checkmark restored nearly two days after paying for the subscription fee slated at $8 per month, Bachchan thanked Elon Musk and expressed his utmost excitement for the blue tick restoration.

The actor also sent a light-herted Tweet and evoked a Hindi song for Elon Musk.

However, Twitter has now started adding blue ticks on profiles with more than one million followers for reasons best known to them and it could likely be due to refusal on the side of many celebrities to pay for the Twitter Blue subscription fee.

While Bachchan is unhappy with paying for the subscription fee, many users are displeased with the free badge after Elon Musk stated that he is personally paying for the likes of LeBron James and Stephen King’s Twitter Blue subscription.
