Stop Adulterating High-life Rhythms – Kumi Guitar

Ghanaian highlife musician, Kumi Guitar has cautioned up-and-coming musicians to stop combining high-life music with foreign beats in an effort to make it sound more up-to-date.

In a recent disclosure made by the high-life singer, he argued that the high-life genre which traces its root from Ghana has its original path and any efforts to change it fit contemporary sounds will be damaging to the genres origin.

Adding to this, Kumi Guitar voiced concern about how certain up-and-coming artists were creating their own genre and dubbing it “Afrobeats High-life” noting that the modernization will be disastrous for Ghana’s high-life music.

According to him, if the said musicians don’t desist from trying to fuse the high-life genre into the modern Afrobeats style of music making, the next generation may not even know anything about the real Ghanaian highlife.
