Prince Kwaku Sarkodie, a Ghanaian-born musician based in Belgium has come out to state that he thinks Ghanaians have sidelined their trendy ‘Azonto’ vibe which was doing well in both Africa and abroad, and have suddenly gone in for something from another country, which is South Africa’s ‘Amapiano’.

According to the musician named Rebbel Ashes, if musicians had held on to the promotion of ‘Azonto’, it would have become so big that everyone would like to always jump any vibe related to it.

He reiterated that, during the early days when the ‘Azonto’vibe was trendy, everyone was ready to jump on it but it suddenly dropped within a short period and Ghanaians eventually switched to take up South Africa’s new ‘Amapiano’ vibe.

Adding to this, he said based on the fact that highlife is struggling to gain prominence in the diaspora, Ghanaians could have taken advantage of ‘Azonto’ to push it’s music trend abroad but they have suddenly left it behind and turned to focus on the ‘Amapiano’ vibe.
