Ajax star, Jurrien Timber has finally come out to explain why he rejected a move to Manchester United and chose to remain at the Dutch side last summer.

The Dutch defender said he would likely leave the club this summer amid continued interest from Manchester United and Liverpool.

Reports indicate Manchester United made a move to sign the 21-year-old last season as Erik Ten Hag plotted to bring him and Lisandro Martinez along to Old Trafford.

However, the Ajax international said Ajax stopped him making the move as they demanded that he remained for a further 12 months.

As it stands, Jurrien could be a replacement for either of the club’s captains, Harry Marguire and Victor Lindelof, as well as the exiled Phil Jones, who is certain to leave.
