Latest Black Stars Call-up By Chris Houghton Sparks Reactions On Social Medi, Fans Share Their Opinion On New Inclusions

The latest squad announced by Coach Chris Houghton has sparked massive reactions from Ghanaians and as expected most netizens have expressed interest in the selection made.

The former Brighton and Give Albion coach, named a 24-man squad, consisting of 3 goalkeepers, 8 defenders, 5 midfielders, 4 wingers and 4 strikers for the upcoming AfCON qualifiers against Madagascar which will be played on June 18, 2023.

As expected, defender Alidu Seidu and forward, Kwasi Okyere Wreidt made their return to squad, as Black Meteors attacker, Ernest Nuamah received his debut call-up.

Unfortunately, players like Antoine Semenyo, Mohammed Salisu, Tariq Lamptey and Daniel Kofi Kyereh were left out of the squad based on injury situations.

Additionally, the squad featured no local league player as Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was exempted this time around.

In line with this fact, some fans have expressed concern regarding the omission of defender, Patrick Pfeiffer and midfielder, Baba Iddrisu from the squad.

Pfeiffer, who switched nationalities from Germany to Ghana, has still not received a call-up from any manager of the senior national team since his switch.

Baba Iddrisu, who missed out on the World Cup squad due to a minor injury, has also not returned to the team despite actively playing in Europe.

Furthermore, fans also believe that local players like Vincent Atinga and Abednego Tetteh deserved a call-up to the Black Stars based on their recent performance.
