Communications Director for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Henry Asante Twum has denied claims that Inaki Williams lacks commitment for the Black Stars team after pulling out of the squad.

The 29-year-old Athletico Bilbao striker, after receiving a call-ups from Chris Houghton ahead of the AfCON qualifiers between Ghana and Madagascar, issued an official statement on his official social media platforms explaining he cannot honor the invitation due to injury.

According to Inaki, he has been nursing an injury for a while and believes it is time to tend to it rather than aggravate it by playing for the Black Stars.

The recent information on Inaki’s absence had some Ghanaian football fans questioning his loyalty to the Black Stars.

However, Mr. Henry Asante Twum says Athletico Bilbao had provided the Black Stars medical team with the player’s medical papers, and his request to sit out of the qualifiers was granted by the GFA.
