Missing Out On Final World Cup Squad Motivated Me – Joseph Paintsil

Salient Black Stars winger, Joseph Paintsil has revealed that missing out on the final Black Stars squad for the 2022 World Cup tournament motivated him to put in extra effort on the pitch which has yielded significant dividends.

The former Tema Youth winger was one of Ghana’s most in-form prior to the Qatar 2022 World Cup, scoring six goals and offering five assists after making thirteen appearances which was more than any other Ghanaian attacker at that time.

However, he was dropped by the then Black Stars coach, Otto Addo, who explained that he had not seen more of the player to merit a call-up.

Unfortunately, Paintsil lost his father within the same week he failed to make the final cut for the just ended World Cup tournament held in Qatar, worsening his woes.

In a recent interview with 3Fm, he explained that the difficulty he encountered rather motivated him to give his best anytime he found himself on the pitch.
