Organizers of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), Charterhouse, has denied claims they forced highlife legend Amakye Dede to crown young highlife singer Kuami Eugene, king of future highlife in Ghana.

In a recent interview on Accra-based radio station Asaase FM, the head of public events and communication of Charterhouse, Robert Klah, stated emphatically that the production house had no hand in the events leading to the crowning.

He reiterated that, they never any crowning session.

According to Robert Klah, he and his team at Charterhouse work with a team of creatives who are offered the opportunity to create what they want to do.

He further stated that the only thing is that they want to ensure that whatever they are going to present is not distasteful,so musicians can get on stage, perform and then they move on.

His comments came on the back of Amakye Dede’s recent disclosure where he indicated he was forced to crown Kuami Eugene king of the future highlife music at the 2019 VGMAs.
