Kaywa Did Not Make A Good ‘Deal’ With Lasmid – Baba Sadiq

Founder of 3Muzik Networks and 3Muzik awards, Baba Sadiq has weighed in on Lasmid’s departure from Kaywa’s Highly Spiritual Music label.
In line with Kaywa’s MTN Hitmaker win in 2019, Baba Sadiq told Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Twitter Spaces that Kaywa’s deal with Lasmid was an inappropriate move.
He, however, added that a lot of talents are handled in a similar manner, where the talent managers have extreme faith in them, groom them till they make it, then things go sideways.
According to Sadiq, he feels he may have gone in for the deal based on a certain faith that he had in the said artist.
Recently, Kaywa revealed that he never had an official contract with Lasmid. Adding to this, he stated that at the time he decided to officially sign him into his label, Lasmid, through his Nigeria lawyer made certain demands that he could not fulfil so they had to go their separate ways.
The iconic music producer added that after taking a couple of years to push Lasmid’s craft, he luckily got his first hit song titled Friday Night which was his fourth song under the Highly Spiritual label.
It was after Lasmid’s second hit song, Running, that he decided to part ways with the label.
In response to this disclosure, Sadiq, on Joy Entertainment Unpacked on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, said matters of this kind have caused a lot of people to lose interest in making good investments in the creative industry.
Accordin to Sadiq, in the market, it is almost a thankless job because a lot of investors are losing interest in looking into industry.
He added that their loss of interest is based on the fact that some of them have the mindset that even if these investors have access to cash, they will tell you instead of using let’s say $200,000 money to invest in an artist, they’re probably going to make more money within a short time, if they decide to invest the said amount in forex trading.
Meanwhile, Kaywa has said in a recent interview on Hitz FM that eventhough he is the sole owner of the mastered version of the songs he produced for his artistes, they can perform them.
