Baba Rahman Leaves Chelsea As Longest-serving Player On The Books

Ghanaian international and Chelsea defender Baba Rahman has left Chelsea, and he is parting ways with the English Premier League club as the longest-serving member on the books after his move to Greek side PAOK was confirmed on Monday.

The Black Stars left-back cost in the region of 14million when signed from German club Augsburg way back in 2015 and made all 23 of his appearances for Chelsea in his debut season before a string of loan spells.

A three-year spell at Schalke was followed by stints with Reims, Mallorca, PAOK and Reading before Rahman eventually returned to Greece, which the EPL giants sanctioned despite him having a year left on his contract.

Irrespective of the fact that he had not been playing for the English club in seven seasons, Rahman was technically the longest-serving footballer on the books at the Bridge.

At national level, Rahman was Ghana’s starting left-back at the 2022 World Cup tournament staged in Qatar last year, in a football competition the west African country disgracefully bowed out at the group level despite having all the opportunity to proceed to the knockout stages.
