Widely revered Ghanaian sound engineer and musician, Ball J popularly known as Ball J Beats has pointed out that ‘Azonto’ was Ghana’s music industry’s greatest chance of blowing on the international front.
The former rapper and music producer in a recent interview on Showbiz University Podcast with King Kwaku Mensa, wailed that Ghanaians felt Azonto was nothing but a dance craze and not a genre of music, and in line with this mentality, they lost the chance to make it big on the international front like the Afrobeats genre.
He lamented that his pain is that people don’t understand music the way he does.
According to Ball J, Azonto was Ghana’s gateway to blowing it up based on the fact that Fuse was doing it back in the days and so was Guru.
However, people thought it was a dance and though he agrees it was a dance craze, we still had could have taken advantage of the opportunity to put it inside the categories.
