Okocha Had Skills Of A Brazilian Player – Roberto Carlos Confesses



Legendary Brazilian defender Roberto Carlos has stated that former Nigeria international Austin Okocha had the skills of a typical Brazilian footballer.
Roberto Carlos made this honest disclosure in a recent interview posted on the official Twitter page of African Facts Zone.
When asked who among George Weah, Samuel Eto’o, Yaya Toure, Didier Drogba and Okocha, the Real Madrid and Brazil footballer picked Nigerian defender Austin Okocha.
“Okocha for me…. Okocha looked like a Brazilian player playing,” the Brazilian legend said.
According  to him, Okocha was spectacular, and seeing him play around the world, for his country and the clubs he played.
In his opinion Okocha had many skills of a Brazilian player based on the fact that he played with elegance when he dribbled, and was very difficult to defend.
He further stated that for him, the Nigerian footballer was an icon of African football.
Roberto Carlos and Jay Jay Okocha faced each other twice at the group level andsemi-finals of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic games.
While the Brazilians won by goal to nil in the group game, the U-23 Super Eagles team, recognized then as the ‘Dream Team’, won 4-3 in a dramatic semi-final encounter.
