Wizkid Becomes 1st African Artist To Bag Brit Billion Award For 1B Streams
Iconic Nigerian Afrobeats musician, Wizkid has set a new record after emerging as the first African singer to get the BRIT Billion Award.
The prestigious honour is presented to artists who have received over a billion digital streams in the United Kingdom.
Millions of units have been sold by the “Ojuelegba” hitmaker in the UK, and his albums and tunes have received a variety of platinum and gold certifications.
His duet with Drake titled “One Dance,” a song which also featured Kyla, is six times platinum and has sold more than 3.6 million copies.
Collaborations like “Energy”, featuring Skepta and “Essence” which features Tems, form part of his other platinum-certified tunes.
His recent collaborations “Come Closer” with Drake “Brown Skin Girl”, featuring Beyoncé are also gold-certified tracks.
On top of the aforementioned achievements, the UK has awarded gold certification to the Nigerian singer’s fourth studio album titled  “Made In Lagos”.
The Brit Award given to him recently is, however, a highly prestigious achievement for Wizkid and African music terrain in entirety.
