The Ghana AIDS Commission has sent out a fair warning to Ghanaian women to be more cautious and abstain from unprotected sex as they are at a higher risk of getting themselves infected with HIV quicker than their male counterparts.

This information was made public by the Ashanti Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of the Ghana Aids Commission, James Appiah Ankra who spoke in a recent interview on Kumasi-based Angel FM.

According to the Ghana AIDS Commission, the framework of the female genital organ makes it easier and faster for the gender to be infected with the HIV infection.

In a report published by the Ghana AIDS Commission a year ago, ladies recorded the highest number of people infected with the deadly virus with a hikened figure of 239,692 in Ghana.

Speaking in a recent interview on ‘Angel In the Morning’ with Kwame Tanko, The Ashanti Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of the Ghana Aids Commission, Mr. James Appiah Ankra further highlighted the the need for ladies to practice safe sex to avoid contraction of the virus.

The Ghana AIDS Commission also stated that it has not been able to run a series of adverts and campaigns to get the public educated on the HIV/AIDS infection as it used to because things are not like they used to be.
