I Feel Unfulfilled Because Highlife In Ghana Hasn’t Reached Its Full Potential – Kwabena Kwabena

Highly acknowledged Ghanaian highlife musician and instrumentalist, George Kwabena Adu, popularly known in the entertainment circle as Kwabena Kwabena, has recently revealed that until the whole country recognizes the highlife music genre, he will continue to remain unfulfilled because the indigenous genre has not reached its full potential.
In a recent interview with Asaase Radio’s “Between Hours” show, the ‘Adult Music’ hitmaker stated that, his dream is not yet fulfilled, but he’ll say when the whole of Ghana recognises highlife music as their baby, that’s when he’ll be fulfilled.”
The multiple award-winning Ghanaian highlife musician further posited that all music genres in the country have elements of highlife sounds embedded in them.
He went further to explain by saying, lately, he has been listening to the playlists on the various platforms, especially with Apple Music.
According to him, he was listening to Ghana Bounce, and from track one to the very last track, he didn’t find any music that didn’t have 99% of the highlife genre in it.
He continued by saying, he ask himself, ‘why is it that we are playing the rhythm and we can’t be bold enough to actually tell the whole world that this is highlife music?’”
The legendary highlife musician, however, expressed his joy and excitement about the introduction of drill music and highlife to the Grammy Awards category, and urged Ghanaian music makers and fans to concentrate on the two genres so they can perfect it.
