I Wanted To Be A Caterer But There Was No Money To Send Me To A Vocational School – Empress Gifty Reveals

Famous Ghanaian female Gospel musician, Gifty Adorye popularly known as Empress Gifty has stated that growing up, she had ambitions of becoming a caterer but financially, her mother couldn’t help actualize this dream.

In a recent interview with Giovanni Caleb and AJ Sarpong on the Accra-based 3FM’s Drive, the award-winning gospel singer stated that, initially, her dream was to become a caterer but her mother lacked the financial capacity so she had to work as a housemaid for her mother’s friend.

Based on the fact that she was actively involved in church activities, Gifty’s maidservant duties were preventing her from working in God’s vineyard.

The singer’s bosses would always complain when she wanted to leave for a church program so she sought permission from her mother so she could call it quit.

She reiterated that when she started her job as a maid, her boss appeared displeased whenever she asked for permission to leave her duties for church activities.

According to Gifty, based on the zeal and passion she bad for the things of God, she didn’t want anything to distract her so she told her mum that the woman doesn’t understand her calling..

Empress Gifty added that she got approval from her mother though the approval came with a condition.

Per Gifty’s narration, her mother said it was okay if she stopped but she would have to enter into fashion designing if she wants to get her consent to leave her occupation as a maid.
