Ghanaian football legend, Mohammed Ahmed ‘Polo’, has emphatically clarified that he never made claims of being a better footballer than Argentine skipper Lionel Messi during his illustrious career for both club and country.

Popularly known as ‘Polo’ within football terrain, the iconic retired Ghanaian player expressed that his words were misconcepted by the media, resulting in a misconstrued public perception.

The renowned Ghanaian and Hearts of Oak footballer, often revered as the ‘dribbling magician’, is widely acknowledged as one of the most skillful and technically talented footballers ever to emerge from his country.

Back in April 2011, a series of articles circulated on social media, suggesting that the legendary Ghanaian dribbler had stated he was a better player than 23-year-old Lionel Messi, who was then widely recognized as the world’s top player.

At the time, the former Paris Saint-Germain attacker held the 2009 FIFA World Best Player title and had won the Ballon d’Or consecutively, in both 2009 and 2010, drawing comparisons to legendary footballers some of which includes Diego Maradona and Pele.
