Highly acknowledged Ghanaian Gospel musician, Mavis Asante has spoken about concerns raised over the fast rising trend of inappropriate dressing within the gospel music industry.
In an impassioned plea, Mavis Asante, who is currently a reverend minister, highlighted the importance of descent dressing among gospel artists, emphasizing that the importance of gospel music lies not only in its melodies and lyrics but also in how musicians portrayed themselves to the public.
The Gospel songstress who is recognized for her popular hit titled “Obaatan”, believes that the attire of Gospel musicians should be in conformity with the spiritual principles they sing about to propel a sense of spiritual bond.
“Gospel musicians are not just performers; they are spiritual messengers, a conduit for divine inspiration. And just as the message is sacred, so should the vessel delivering it.
She further explained that her call for modesty goes beyond personal conviction to a wider responsibility for shaping the mindset and expectations of the followers and lovers of Gospel music.
She also noted that she would continue to spark a broader conversation within the Gospel music fraternity to remind gospel musicians of their holy duty to approach their calling with an in-depth sense of discipline.
She therefore called on fans and followers to always remember the humanity of Gospel musicians and include them in their prayers, stressing about the challenges they face and their need for support.
