“I Look Up To Asamoah Gyan” – Black Stars Newboy Jonathan Sowah Reveals

Newly-invited Black Stars player, Jonathan Sowah has indicated thay he idolizes former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan and is super excited and willing to cement his position in the senior national team of Ghana.

Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton released a 25-man list for the all-important AFCON qualifier against Central African Republic scheduled for Thursday, 7 September, 2023, with majority expected to make the cut.

The lanky Ghanaian attacker had a fantastic season with the Mauves and Yellows last season while managing to score 12 goals in order to help them win the Ghana Premier League.

Recently in the CAF Champions League, Jonathan scored in the first leg against Remo Stars and went on to win the tie in a penalty shoot-outs contest to help them advance into the next qualification round.

In a recent interview with Akoma FM, Jonathan Sowah made it clear that his idol is ‘Baby Jet’ Asamoah Gyan, adding that he is ever ready and geared towards establishing himself as a mainstay in the Black Stars team.

“I’m very happy for this call up into the Black Stars, many thanks to Coach Didi Dramani who taught me a lot at the Local Black Stars camp” he said

“It has always been my dream to play for the senior national team” he added.

“I always look up to Asamoah Gyan that I will one day emulate what he did for Ghana. I thank God for granting my wish and all I need to do is to work hard, pray and fight for a chance” he further disclosed.

“I am here to stay, even if I have to fight with the last drop of my blood, I will do it” he concluded.
