Medeama SC’s Fatawu Hamidu Replaces Baba Rahman Ahead Of Ghana-Liberia Friendly

Head Coach of Black Stars team, Chris Houghton has handed a late call up to Medeama SC left-back Fatawu Hamidu ahead of the Ghanaian team’s friendly encounter against Liberia scheduled to be played on Tuesday 12 September, 2023.
The lanky Ghanaian defender is coming in to join the rest of the squad as replacement for Baba Abdul Rahman who according reports has left camp due to injury, and is returning to Greece quickly to begin his rehabilitation.
Baba Rahman, made the starting line up when Ghana faced Central African Republic last Thursday, after which they eventually booked their spot at the 2024 AFCON tournament after a precious 2-1 win over their competitors.
Fatawu Hamidu was amazing last season for the Mauves and Yellows and played an major role in helping his side win the league for the first time, after making 19 appearances for them and scoring 2 goals.
Hamidu becomes the second home-based player in the Black Stars squad at the moment alongside teammate Jonathan Sowah, who are both anticipating for their dream Black Stars debut against the Lone Stars.
The friendly match which doubles as a preparation for the upcoming AfCON tournament is scheduled to come on at the Ohene Gyan Sports Stadium in Accra.
