No Civilized Country Will Show Foreign Soap Operas On TV With Local Interpretation – Rex Omar

Veteran Ghanaian musician, Rex Omar has lambasted the Ghanaian media landscape for telecasting foreign soap operas with ‘Twi’ interpretation.

“Right now look at our media landscape, all the soap operas we’re showing on TV are foreign which they’ve used our local languages to interpret,” he remarked.

In a recent interview with Amansan Krakye on Cape Coast-based Property FM, Rex Omar said the showing of foreign soap operas on television is causing a lot of harm to the country.

“This thing is causing the nation a lot of havoc and who is talking about that but Ghana is like a country without governance so everyone does what they want” he fumed.

He went on to state that there is nowhere in any civilized foreign country, let’s say India, where you will see them showing a Ghanaian soap opera on their television station while they use the Indian language for interpretations of the actor’s expressions made in the movie.

“Or maybe you go to Britain and they’ll be showing Ghanaian soap opera on their popular TV station with their language, it doesn’t happen and it’s only Ghana,” he added.
