Award-winning Ghanaian Disc Jockey and music producer, DJ Vyrusky has waded into the discussion concerning Ghanaian musicians’ inability to attract large audiences on the international front by selling shows abroad.

Speaking in a recent interview on the Ladies Circle show on TV3, DJ Vyrusky underscored the challenges that come along with this endeavor, citing the requirement for extensive promotion and cautious strategic planning.
“You can’t be in Ghana and you want to sell out O2, like it doesn’t make sense. You can’t be here not going to the UK to promote yourself as an artiste and want to sell out a concert there” DJ Vyrusky stated.
This discussion emerged from a more extensive public conversation concerning why Ghanaian musicians are yet to make recognizable strides in selling out international shows, as compared to the achievements of Nigerian musicians such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Asake.
DJ Vyrusky further highlighted that a crucial strategy for achieving success in selling out shows internationally is collaborating with international musicians.
Citing examples to back his point, he made mention of the likes of Nigerian superstar Wizkid and budding talent Asake, emphasizing their successful partnerships as a major factor in drawing larger audiences abroad.
Additionally, DJ Vyrusky underscored the major role of event houses in ensuring the effective promotion of shows stating their significance in bringing together the requisite elements needed for a successful international concert, from marketing and logistics to the appropriate selection of venues.
