I Regret Not Signing Olamide – Akon

Senegalese-born American based singer, Akon, has stated that he wished he had signed Nigerian-based indigenous rapper, Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide, some years ago.

Akon and Olamide did a collaborative song on the record titled ‘Scammers’, a song off Akon’s 2019 ‘Akonda’ album.

Akon made it clear that Olamide was his favourite musician before he became music executive, adding that signing the Nigerian musician would have opened the floodgate for fresh signees.

Akon made this disclosure in a recent Skype interview with OAP, Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, otherwise known as Do2Tun, of Cool FM, Lagos.

“I would probably say the one person in Nigeria that I wish I had signed is Olamide. Honestly, I wish I had signed Olamide because he would have signed a lot of new artists anyway” Akon confessed.

“Olamide was my favourite artist before he reinvented himself as a music executive. The first time we met, I told him he was my favourite artist,” he added.

It can be recalled that Akon once signed Nigerian music duet P-Square to his Konvict Music record label some years ago.
