Famous Ghanaian Reggae-dancehall musician, Samini has expressed his objection to the government’s plan to construct a National Cathedral regarding it as a “misplaced priority.”

In a recent interview on the Day Show with Berla Mundi, the “Sweet Mistake” hitmaker stated that the funds allocated for the construction of the National Cathedral’s would have been better utilised in critical areas of development such as healthcare, security, and agriculture.
“I’m a person that does not buy into the idea of building a National cathedral and I will say it every other day. It’s purely a misplaced priority. I wouldn’t say channel it to the arts [because] there are other areas. There is the health sector which is almost like nothing to write home about, there is security, there is rural water issue, there is agriculture which is my heart” Samini stated.
The award-winning Ghanaian dancehall musician further commended the efforts of the president, attributing the current economic difficulties to the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to this, Samini stated that in contemporary governance, very few people, if any, remain exempted from the corruption scandal, except for a select few who prioritize their social standing and integrity.
“Nobody is free off corruption in today’s governance. Well, there are certain few people who would try to go through governance with no blemish because of their own self-esteem and social status sake but people are soiled whether they like it or not before the day is over” the dancehall musician stated.
Samini further emphasized that the president’s achievements and commitment to national development would be assessed after the conclusion of his term, to ultimately determine the success of his tenure in office.
