Veteran Ghanaian highlife artist, Gyedu Blay Ambolley has called on young and rising acts to stay true to their craft rather than succumbing to the pressures of following music trends.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Graphic Showbiz, the legendary highlife musician advised young musicians to look out, and stay true to their original identities, brand, and craft in order to become successful in their music career.

“It’s essential to find your unique voice, study your craft, and strive for excellence. Don’t just follow trends; create your path and stay true to your identity,” Ambolley said.

He further stressed on the importance for young musicians to prioritise building on their craft and becoming professionals over pursuing quick fixes to gain popularity since he genuinely thinks that music should supersede trends and rapid gratification.

“Remember professionalism, commitment and knowledge of your craft will make you,” the veteran Ghanaian highlife musician added.

Ambolley’s point of view emanates from his dedication to protecting Ghana’s illustrious musical history and ensuring the music he is associated with has a positive effect on its listeners.
