Bad News For Ghana’s Black Stars As Tariq Lamprey Suffers Fresh Injury Ahead Of Friendlies Against USA And Mexico



Information gathered by indicates Black Stars defender, Tariq Lamptey could miss the upcoming international friendlies between Ghana and Mexico as well as the USA due to a recent injury sustained.
The 23-year-old Ghanaian international was left out of Brighton and Hove Albion’s Premier League home match against Liverpool on Sunday, 8 October, 2023.
Speaking ahead of the game, Roberto De Zerbi, who happens to be the head coach of Brighton and Hove Albion, confirmed that the former Chelsea defender picked up a knock against Olympique Marseille in their Europa League game last Thursday.
“We have to see tomorrow about Lamptey, I don’t want to take a risk. The other players are good. We have to change some things from the Marseille game” Roberto De Zerbi revealed.
“To lose the players in this moment would be stupid because we are still in early October and it will be a very long season. We have to play another four games in the Europa League and many in the Premier League” he added.
Tariq is expected to undergo some medical examinations on Monday, October 8, to ascertain the intensity of the injury he has sustained.
However, the salient Brighton right-back has been named in Ghana’s final squad for the international friendly games scheduled to be played later this week.
If the medical examination conducted on the injury does show any sign of seriousness, Tariq will be able to report to the Black Stars camp this week for the October international break.
The Black Stars of Ghana will lock horns with their Mexican counterparts on October 14, before facing the USA on October 17, 2023.
